Milestone Unlocked - Hooding My First PhD Student

Despite stupidly choosing not to attend my own PhD graduation, a thing that I’ve been looking forward to ever since I started working with her was hooding the newly-minted Dr. Sarah Betti, the first PhD student to graduate from my lab. Luckily, both Sarah’s mother and I were sufficiently adamant that Sarah did not make the same mistake that I did. She traveled from Baltimore and her new postdoctoral fellowship job for the ceremony, and was joined by her family for the occasion.
