Introducing Sarah Betti, PhD!!!

Congratulations Dr. Betti!

Sarah Betti, the Follette Lab’s first graduate student member, successfully defended her PhD today! Here’s me looking and feeling disgustingly proud of her.

Sarah’s thesis document, talk, and defense were all spectacular. She wove together beautifully her work spanning wavelength regimes and techniques through the lens of what they tell us about the formation of giant planets and brown dwarfs. From resolving surface ice lines in a transitional disk with high-contrast imaging to obtaining the first NIR line measurements of a bound protoplanet, Sarah’s work in my lab has been impeccable. Stay tuned for several more thesis papers in the pipeline.

Sarah will be starting as a Space Telescope Science Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the fall. Congratulations Sarah!
